picture of Jessica Cosme, student trustee member  Jessica L. Cosme, from Butler, a Political Science major with minors in Women's Studies, Spanish, and Russian was named to the Slippery Rock University Council of Trustees in June of 2008.

A recipient of the Emma Guffery Miller Scholarship, Ms. Cosme has been a visible leader both on and off of the Slippery Rock campus.

Ms. Cosme has served as a Community Assistant, where she was in charge of over 30 students. As a Community Assistant, she was responsible for making sure students felt secure and comfortable while planning monthly floor meetings along with social and educational activities.

Ms. Cosme is also serving as co-president of Amnesty International, co-founder of Americans for Informed Democracy and a Commuter Senator for the Slippery Rock University Student Government Association. The Events Coordinator of the SRU College Democrats, Ms. Cosme took on a leadership position with the Clinton campaign in the Pennsylvania Primary and introduced Chelsea Clinton to the students of Slippery Rock University. As a member of the Feminist Majority Leadership Alliance, Ms. Cosme was a member of the Vagina Monologues Cast, which helped raise over $2,800 for women of domestic violence in Butler and Lawrence counties.

A member of Pi Sigma Alpha, the political science honorary, Ms. Cosme was chief delegate of the 2008 SRU model NATO team, and a First Seminar Peer Leader. Ms. Cosme has represented Slippery Rock University at over 10 conferences and workshops in the past two years, including the Pennsylvania NEW Leadership training at Chatham University, where she and 30 other students shared their experiences with women, politics, and the environment, organized events and traveled to Harrisburg to meet with elected officials. In her spare time, Ms. Cosme enjoys traveling, the performing arts and reading.

In August of 2008, Ms. Cosme  traveled l to Denver Colorado to work for the Pennsylvania State Democratic Party at the Democratic National Convention.
