Slippery Rock University invites applications for a full time, tenure track assistant professor in the History Department beginning August 2009.

 

Qualifications: Ph.D. in American History with concentration in the areas from the late Colonial era to the Civil War; ability to teach Pennsylvania History required.  ABD’s will be considered if Ph.D. is completed by June 2009.  Successful performance in an on-campus interview, including teaching demonstration, required. Commitment to the education of diverse populations required.  Teaching experience at the college/university level preferred.

 

Responsibilities: Teach introductory history surveys and specialized courses in Pennsylvania history plus courses in such areas as Colonial, Revolution, Early National, Military History, and Civil War.  Demonstrate excellence in teaching, maintain an active program of scholarly achievement resulting in peer-reviewed publication, mentor undergraduate and graduate research, participate in university service and advise students.
