Using web-based distance education, Slippery Rock University makes it possible for RNs to obtain a BSN at the same time they are managing busy work and home schedules. All nursing and support courses in the nursing program are offered entirely by web-based distance education. Students do their work from anywhere they have Internet access. An up-to-date curriculum reflects the impact of managed care and the leadership roles nurses now play in health care. Building on the previous education of the RN, an academically and clinically qualified faculty works with each student to plan a program of studies.

These pages contain information that is pertinent to the nursing program and introduces you to several programs offered by the nursing department.

RN to BSN Program - The Slippery Rock University baccalaureate nursing program prepares professional practitioners of nursing to provide health care to persons, families, and groups in a variety of settings, using the nursing process.  The curriculum is designed specially for RNs with an emphasis on managed care, leadership skills, and technology.  In addition, students receive a strong educational foundation upon which to build graduate study.
Case Management in Nursing Certificate Program - A twelve-credit certificate program to   prepare RNs with knowledge and skills to improve outcomes of cost effectiveness, quality care, and patient satisfaction in settings across the health care continuum

Health Care Informatics - An interdisciplinary minor and a post baccalaureate certificate in Health Care Informatics. Many of the courses are offered through web-based distance education.

School Nurse Certification - A twelve-credit certification program for registered nurses currently holding a BSN degree or enrolled in a BSN completion program.  Must have a minimum 2.8 QPA for admission and must have 6 credits in English (3 credits composition, 3 credits literature) and 6 credits in Math (course must have a Math prefix).  The English and Math requirements are Pennsylvania Dept. of Education requirements and cannot be waived.
