Application Deadline

International students can begin studies at SRU in the fall (August) and spring (January) terms. The deadline for submission of ALL application materials for fall admission is May 1.  For spring admission, it is October 1. Due to visa and immigration regulatory changes resulting in much lengthier student visa processing, it is suggested that the admission process be completed as early as possible.  

Application Forms

SRU considers non-US citizen and non-permanent resident (green card) students as international students. As such, their admission to the University is processed through the Office of International Services. Please print out and complete both forms below and mail (post) them to The Rock at the address below.

Required Credentials

Please note: All documents in languages other than English should include a certified English translation in addition to the original language document.

Please carefully review the application instructions as common oversights, such as photocopies instead of original or certified true copies of documents, will severely delay a final admission decision.

  • International Student Application for Admission form.
  • $30.00 (US) Application Fee. Check or money order should be made payable to "Slippery Rock University"
  • Official, certified secondaryand post-secondary school transcripts (a transcript is a year-by-year listing of courses/subjects, grades/marks earned for each course, and credits earned for each course/subject). All transcripts should bear the official school seal and signature of the person issuing the transcript. Whenever possible, transcripts should be sent directly from the school.
  • Official, certified copies of all secondary and post-secondary school certificates, diplomas, degrees, and external examination results.
  • Verification of English Language Proficiency.  This can be verified by submitting one of three test results:  (1) TOEFL (Test of English as an Foreign Language) score report with a minimum score of 500 on the paper test, 173 on the computer based test, or 61 on the internet based test.. The Test of Written English is not required but is highly recommended   SRU TOEFL code is 2658.  TOEFL Information is avilable at http://www.ets.org/toefl or  (2)  IELTS (International English Language Testing System) results at the 6.5 band or higher.  IELTS is jointly managed by:University of Cambridge ESOL Examinations, British Council, and IDP: IELTS Australia and further information is available at http://www.ielts.org or (3)  Official score report from ELS schools in the US, with a 112 result or higher.   • Verification that you have sufficient funds for at least your first year of study at SRU. In addition to completing the Financial Support Statement (enclosed with the application form) an original bank statement, in English, issued within the last 6 months, must be submitted by your sponsor.
