Scholarship (Financial aid)

Slippery Rock University offers a Scholarship (financial aid) package in the form of a partial tuition waiver to all international students qualifying for admission.  A separate application form is not necessary at the time of admission, but will be required each year of subsequent enrollment.

For undergraduate students, the 2009-2010 tuition waiver is valued at $5,555.00 (US) for the first academic year ($2,777.50 per semester). Thereafter, tuition waivers are awarded per semester at the following levels and are based on the cumulative QPA.  At the conclusion of the first year of study, if the cumulative QPA is a 3.0 (B average) or higher, the estimated waiver amount of $2,777.50 per semester is retained.  If the cumulative QPA falls below a 3.0, but is above a 2.5 (C+ average), the amount of tuition waiver is reduced to $1,805.50 (US) per semester.  If the cumulative QPA falls below a 2.5 (C+), no tuition waiver is awarded.

For post-baccalaureate students (those who have already earned the equivalent of a U.S. Bachelor's degree, but are still pursuing undergraduate studies), the tuition waiver is currently valued at $3,611.00 (US) for the first academic year ($1,805.50 per semester). Thereafter, the tuition waiver is awarded per semester and is based on the cumulative QPA. After the first year of study, if the cumulative QPA falls below a 3.0 (B), no tuition waiver is awarded.

International students are eligible to work on campus.  Current wages are about $7.25/hour.  Students can work up to 20 hours per week when classes are in session and up to 37.5 hours over summer break and holiday periods. On campus employment is not guaranteed.

Scholarships For International students

Over the years, Dr. Carol Holland, Associate Professor in Slippery Rock University’s Counseling Center, came to recognize the numerous contri-butions that international students make on campus. Along with this observation, she also noticed that many students struggle financially. In appreciation of these students’ hard work and the many challenges that they face as they study in a foreign country, she generously established this scholarship. more...

The Stan Kendziorski International Student Scholarship has been established through the generosity of an anonymous donor, alumni, friends, and faculty/staff at Slippery Rock University. Stan Kendziorski was a faculty member at SRU from 1968 to 1998 and served as Director of International Services from 1980-1998. The scholarship is intended to recognize and reward a well-rounded in-ternational student who contributed significantly to the university in both academic and student life. more...
