The programs and services offered through the Slippery Rock University Center for Student Involvement & Leadership are designed to connect students to the life of the campus. Students get connected through activities, programs, and special events. Students also get connected and get involved through student organizations.
The goal of the Center for Student Involvement & Leadership is to help students connect to meaningful opportunities to make friends, have fun, and develop their leadership potential. The Center provides programs and workshops that teach the theory of leadership and the practical application of leadership skills. In addition, the Center encourages students to utilize leadership strategies in their roles within student organizations.
The Center for Student Involvement & Leadership houses the Office of Student Activities and the Office of Student Organizations & Leadership. Each office works extensively with students (both individually and in groups), faculty, and staff to develop effective and meaningful opportunities for the campus community.
The Office of Student Activities enhances and supports the educational mission of Slippery Rock University and the Division of Student Life through the coordination and creation of co-curricular programs and activities that serve to educate and entertain members of the SRU community.
The University Program Board (UPB) is the major co-curricular sponsor of student events. Students lead the work of seven specialized committees (Arts & Entertainment, Major Events, University Events, Weekend Programs, Lectures, Cultural Diversity, and Public Relations) that create a diverse array of campus programs. Most events are free for SRU students. All students are encouraged to get involved by joining one of the UPB committees.
The Office of Student Organizations & Leadership creates and supports opportunities for students to develop as leaders. The Leadership Opportunities page provides links and information on campus organizations that offer students the chance to enhance their leadership skills.
The office coordinates the Freshman Leader Scholar Program, provides advisement to fraternities and sororities, coordinates the registration and recognition of all student organizations, recruits and supports the Leadership Alliance delegation, sponsors workshops and seminars on leadership topics and issues, maintains a resource center to assist organization leaders and advisors, and coordinates the Student Ambassadors program. All students are encouraged to stop in to obtain resource materials and information about the variety of leadership development programs available.
