Purpose |

To establish uniform guidelines
for emergency mobilization of snow removal crews during off
hours.

Objective |

To eliminate delays in reaction
time to emergency situations and increase the overall efficiency of
the snow removal system.

Policy |
|
To insure that inspection of snow
and ice hazards are carried out during all shifts; the University
Police will inspect the campus and call out Labor and Grounds crew
during off shifts.

Procedure |
|
| A. |
Unexpected Snow and Ice
Removal. University Police upon inspection of campus roads
will inform designated representative of Facilities and Planning of
the situation. This representative "designated below" will
take the necessary steps to react to the situation at hand.

| B. |
Issued Storm Warnings
(Weekdays). In the event of severe weather for the immediate
area issued by any official weather agency, management and
supervision will meet and determine the appropriate hours for a
representative to be placed on stand-by.

Responsibility. The
designated representative shall be available for and ready to
respond to any emergency situation during predetermined
hours. This representative need not wait for University
Police to inform him of an emergency.

Compensation. Compensation
for stand-by time shall be no more or no less than the agreed upon
rate between the university and the individual employee's
contractual agreement.

| C. |
Issued Storm Warnings
(Weekends). Prior to the end of the shift on Friday,
management and supervision will decide appropriate hours for
stand-by assignment.
