WHEELING, W. Va. -- Senior Vicki
Wilson and sophomore Rachel
Stultz each won a pair of individual events and swam a
leg of the winning 200 medley relay Saturday to pace the Slippery
Rock University women's swimming team to a 103-82 win at Wheeling
Jesuit University.
The win was The Rock women's third in as many dual meets this
season.
In men's action, senior Tony
Mehalic won pair of individual events and led off the
winning 200 freestyle relay, but The Rock dropped to 1-2 with an
82-70 loss to Wheeling Jesuit.
Stultz won the 200 individual medley with a time of 2:23.33 and
captured the 200 butterfly in a time of 2:16.66, while Wilson won
the 50 (25.08) and 100 freestyle (54.61).
Sophomore Jen Zuzack and
sophomore Sherri Scobie-Henry
joined Stultz and Wilson on the winning relay team.
Zuzack won the 200 backstroke (2:14.25) and senior Jessica Gerhart won the 1000 freestyle
(11:43.66) to round out The Rock women's blue-ribbon efforts.
Mehalic won the 50 freestyle (22.43) and 100 freestyle (49.40). He
was joined on the winning relay by senior Jose Sotillo, freshman Aaron Chapple and Paul Broskey.
Sotillo won the 100 butterfly (56.30) and Broskey won the 100
breaststroke (1:11.89) for the other Rock men's wins.
The Rock men and women return to action next Saturday, Jan. 18,
when they will host Fairmont State (W. Va.) in a 2 p.m. meet in the
Morrow Field House pool.
Rock head coach Bob Ogoreuc
will seek his 100th career win in that meet.
