I.
Purpose
To outline the process whereby
search committees are formed for management and administrative
positions. To form search committees that are inclusive of women
and minorities in order to promote a diverse perspective and
contribute to the multi-cultural environment that the University is
committed to achieving.
II.
Policy
As positions are authorized for
hiring, search committees will be formed in one of two
ways:
- The President shall appoint a
search committee for senior policy executive level positions
(Academic Deans and above). The Human Resources Office will consult
with the President in order to determine the size and constituency
of the search committee. The committee will consist of management
representatives (one of whom will be appointed as search
chairperson) as well as representatives from selected bargaining
units. Appropriate bargaining units will be contacted and asked to
provide the names of employees from their unit who may be asked to
serve on the committee. The President also may request student
representation on the committee. If additional representation is
needed to further the diversity of the committee, the President
will appoint an employee at his discretion. All search committee
members will receive written confirmation from the President of
their appointments.
- For all other management,
administrative and coaching positions - The Human Resources Office
will consult with the appropriate Vice President in order to
determine the size and constituency of the search committee. The
Vice President will appoint a management representative as search
chairperson. Appropriate bargaining units will be contacted and
asked to provide a name from their unit who may be asked to serve
on the committee. If additional representation is needed to further
the diversity of the committee, the Vice President may appoint an
employee at his discretion. The Vice President also may request
student representation on the committee. All search committee
members will receive written confirmation from the Vice President
of their appointments.
