The College of Business, Information, and Social Sciences evolved from the College of Information Science and Business Administration as part of a university restructuring in 2000. The newly organized college consists of the School of Business, six academic departments: Communication, Computer Science, Political Science (former Government and Public Affairs), Professional Studies, Social Work, Criminology, and Criminal Justice (former Sociology/ Anthropology/ Social Work), and Military Science (Army ROTC) and the Government Contracting Assistance Center (GCAC).  Departments in the college now offer nineteen undergraduate degree programs.

Organization:

  • The dean is the chief administrative officer of the college, and is responsible for all of its academic programs.
  • The assistant to the dean is responsible for implementation and compliance of student related policies in the College.
  • Each of the six academic departments is led by a faculty member serving as department chairperson.
  • Graduate assistants work with faculty in their respective departments, but are not assigned as classroom instructors.
