Robert A. Davis Scholarship for New Majors in Geography or Environmental Studies

Criteria: Full-time Geography or Environmental Studies major with overall 3.0 QPA at SRU. Must be second semester sophomore or junior at time of application. Application process requires a 400-600 word essay.

Ivona Kemp Natural Living Scholarship

Criteria:

Graduate student who is enrolled within the Master of Science in Sustainable Systems degree program at SRU. Applicants must be approved for degree candidacy with a minimum QPA of 3.25 and demonstrate financial need.  Student must have involvement in environmental programs and have a potential for success.  

Amount:

up to $1000

Pearl K. Stoner Scholarship

Criteria:

Awarded to a graduate student or prospective student pursuing the Master's of Science Degree in Sustainable Systems.  First preference will be given to students from Somerset, PA and surrounding communities.  The selected recipient may not accept a graduate assistantship during the semester they are awarded the scholarship.  Incoming students will be selected base on their graduate school application material.  Students are not required to submit a formal application for the scholarship.  

Amount:

To scholarships awarded: up to $4000 each

Geology Alumni Scholarship

Criteria: Must be a current Geology major with overall 3.0 QPA, 3.25 QPA in major.  Minimum of either geology credits taken at SRU; involvement, service and participation in department/professional activities.  
Amount: up to $1400 ($700/semester)

Paul F. Rizza Scholarship

Criteria: Full-time Geography or Environmental Studies major with at least nine credits in the major and an overall 3.0 QPA at SRU. Must be second semester sophomore or junior at time of application. Application process requires a 400-600 word essay.

Michael A Starker Award for Environmental Studies 

Criteria:
  • Second semester sophomore or junior status at time of application.
  • Official full-time enrollment in Environmental Studies by the application deadline, and maintenance of enrollment in the program during the year of the award.
  • Minimum 3.0 QPA overall earned at Slippery Rock University.
Amount: up to $1000

Matthew Veltri Award for Environmental Science 

Criteria:
  • Be a current Environmental Science student at time of application.
  • Minimum of 8 hours of major requirements at the 200 level or above.
  • Minimum 3.0 QPA overall earned at Slippery Rock University.
  • Minimum 3.25 QPA in Environmental Science.
Amount: up to $1000

Flash Yarger Scholarship

Criteria: Second semester freshman or sophomore, undergraduate with minimum 3.0 QPA at the time of application.  First preference to students majoring in Geology, then to others majoring in Environmental Science, Environmental Studies, or Geography.  Preference to Pennsylvania residents.  Students can apply in spring of freshman year.  Must be committed to excellence and academic success.  
Amount: up to $900 - Renewable with 3.0 QPA
