ALCOHOL-FREE, MIX-OFF TO SHOW SRU STUDENTS HOW
TO HAVE FUN
SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – Slippery Rock University’s
thirdannual “All-Campus Alcohol-Free
Mix-Off” featuring popular tropical drinks and rock music
will be held in the pool area of the Robert N. Aebersold Student
Recreation Center from 7:30 to 9 p.m. Monday [March 3] and is
expected to draw some 500 students.
The
event, designed to show students that they can have fun without
alcohol, is sponsored by the Pennsylvania Department of
Transportation, AAA, SRU’s Office of Greek Affairs, Auxiliary
Student Services, Aramark (the campus food vendor) and the
recreation center.
Cathie
Sadler, coordinator of Greek Affairs, reports 19 student groups,
including fraternities and sororities will set up theme booths and
serve beverages related to their selected theme as part of the
event. Each organization is responsible for preparation and
presentation of its selected drink. Prizes donated by local
businesses will be awarded and SRU’s WRSK, 881.FM, will
provide music.
EDITOR’S NOTE: This event should
provide excellent feature photos and helps promote alcohol
awareness among young people. Please consider a feature story.
Those planning to staff the event are asked to call
