GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS Students are reminded that to be a December graduate, an Application for Graduation must be submitted by OCTOBER 15, 2008 and all coursework must be completed by the end of the semester. Failure to complete all work (i.e. incomplete and/or "X" grades, etc.) will result in updating the students graduation date to the end of the semester in which the coursework and/or application was completed. In addition, students must reapply for graduation, and undergraduates may be assessed another $20 graduation and diploma fee. Graduate students will be assessed another $20 graduation and diploma fee. Students who have not applied for graduation must process an application immediately. Applications are also available in the Office of Academic Records and Summer School, 107 Old Main. The university cannot guarantee inclusion in the DECEMBER commencement program for applications that are received in Student Accounts after the due date.
ACADEMIC REGALIA In observance of academic tradition and Commencement decorum, participants are to wear appropriate academic apparel consisting of a traditional black gown and mortarboard with tassel (except ARMY ROTC). Attire worn in addition to traditional apparel is not appropriate. Master's hoods are lined with the university colors, green and white. Velvet panels show their color of the discipline granting the degree; example: education is light blue and science is yellow. Candidates may purchase academic apparel at the SGA Bookstore located in the University Union beginning (date TBA). Regalia purchase rates at the SGA Bookstore in the University Union are as follows:

The SGA Bookstore staff will assist you in selecting the correct apparel size and colors. Guests may visit the SGA Bookstore located in the University Union to obtain Slippery Rock University merchandise as a remembrance of this special day. SGA BOOKSTORE HOURS ARE: The SGA Bookstore is closed on Sunday.
HONORS Latin honors designations will not be permanently placed on a student's transcript until his/her final semester grades are received and a new, final cumulative QPA is computed. To receive latin honors, a minimum of 60 credits must be completed at Slippery Rock University (excluding credit by exam). Because grades from a student's final term of enrollment are not officially posted and recomputed until after graduation, QPA's used for determining the above-named honors at the commencement ceremony (cords and medallions) will be made at the end of the semester preceding the student's last semester of enrollment. Graduating seniors with cum laude or magna cum laude honors should pick up their honor cords at the SGA Bookstore. Medallions for summa cum laude graduates are available at the Russell Wright Alumni House. LATIN HONORS FOR UNDERGRADUATE STUDENTS
