 Community Assistant (CA)

Community Assistants are peer educators who live with students on the residence hall floor. The Community Assistant provides support for resolving and concerns that students may have  regarding their living environment. They also assist the floor community members in developing and environment where they can study and have fun. The CA is an excellent resource for programs and services available at the University.

 Desk Attendant (DA)

The Desk Attendant is a student employee who provides assistance at the residence hall front desk if you are locked out of your room, need to register a guest, want to use residence hall equipment, or need to pick up and academic printing request. Desk Attendants and Community Assistants provide around the clock coverage at residence hall front desks. TO APPLY: DA applications are available in the back of your Residence Hall living Guide, at your residence hall, at the Office of Residence Life web page, and in our office. Preference is given to students eligible for student work study and apply by August 1. Campus interviews will be scheduled during the first two weeks of classes.

   Graduate in Residence (GIR)

The Graduate in Residence is a graduate student who is responsible for all administrative aspects of a residence hall. This individual works with community assistants in creating and environment in the residence halls that is conductive to maximum individual growth and development. The GIR is responsible for assisting in supervision of community assistant and welcome-desk attendant staffs, advising House council, and the coordination of the in-hall residential programming. This individual also assumes responsibility for the building under the supervision of an Assistant Director of Residence Life.

   Residence Life Coordinator (RLC)

The Residence Life Coordinator is a full time employee of Slippery Rock University who lives in a residence hall and provides supervision to GIRs, CAs, DAs. THe Residence Life Coordinator is responsible for the overall environment of the hall community and for assisting students to access University, academic, and personal resources.

   Resident Network Assistant (RNA)

The Residence Network Assistant is a student employee who is available to assist you with computing and networking problems. Your RNA is available by dialing the RNA or HELP DESK on your room phone.

   Residence Hall Custodians

Residence Hall Custodians help keep public areas and community bathrooms clean. Students are responsible for cleaning their own rooms, in-room bathrooms, removing trash and recycling to designated locations, reporting damages and facility concerns to the front desk, and treating the residence hall community with respect. Students will be billed for trash in the hallway, spills to the carpet,a nd writing on walls.

   Residence Hall Maintenance

Residence Hall Maintenance employees are available to correct room and building facility concerns. You are responsible for reporting in room maintenance concerns to the front desk. Occasionally, it is necessary for us to have maintenance personnel enter your room to address a facility concern. When we have advance knowledge of any facility concern, residence life staff post signs in residence hall lobbies and when appropriate sending e-mails to your SRU account.
