» SRU's Dr. Nanette Kaplan Solomon Plans Birthday Tribute to Two Composers April 13
SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – Dr. Nanette Kaplan Solomon, professor of music at Slippery Rock University, will salute the 100th birthday of composer Nikolai Lopatnikoff's and the 75h birthday of of Emma Lou Diemer, which she presents a free, public piano recital at 4 p.m. April 13 in Swope Music Hall.

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – “A Day of Jazz at The Rock,” Slippery Rock University’s second annual jazz festival, will feature 250 jazz musicians from 13 western Pennsylvania high schools and middle schools and offer a master jazz class and public concert by Grammy Award-winner Randy Brecker.

» SRU Selects AVI Foodsystems, Inc., as Campus Food Provider
SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – The nation’s largest independent, family-owned food service company AVI Foodsystems, Inc., has been selected as Slippery Rock University’s dining services vendor and will take over all campus food service operations June 1.

» Extraordinary Freshman Class Predicted as SRU Trustees Review Enrollment, Diversity, Achievements
SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. --- Slippery Rock University trustees heard Interim President Robert Smith predict that this fall’s incoming freshman class may prove to be “the most extraordinary in SRU’s modern history.” Enrollment records at this stage already project a 43 percent increase over last year in the number of students who are in the top 25 percent of their high school class. The average SAT score for those who have paid a deposit to hold a space for enrollment is 1018, up from last year’s 977.

The shared education/training campus and conference center will become the only one its kind between Erie and Pittsburgh.
