SRU’S DR. NANETTE KAPLAN SOLOMON TO
OFFER BIRTHDAY TRIBUTE TO COMPOSERS LOPATNIKOFF AND DIEMER IN APRIL
13 CONCERT
SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – Dr. Nanette Kaplan Solomon, professor of
music at Slippery Rock University, will salute the 100th
birthday of composer Nikolai Lopatnikoff's and the 75h
birthday of of Emma Lou Diemer, which she presents a free, public
piano recital at 4 p.m. April 13 in Swope Music
Hall.
The
SRU professor who teaches piano, music history and form and
analysis, is a resident of New Castle. She joined the SRU faculty
in 1977 and performs extensively both in the U.S. and
abroad.
She
earned her bachelor of arts from Yale University and holds a master
of music from Yale School of Music. Her doctorate was earned at
Boston University and she has performed at the Lincoln Center
Library in New York, the Phillips Collection in Washington, D.C.,
the Mozarteum in Salzburg, Austria, and Wigmore Hall in London. In
1996, Solomon was selected as a finalist in the Pittsburgh Symphony
“Search for a Star” sponsored by Marvin Hamlisch and
performed in Pittsburgh’s Heinz Hall.
