GROVE CITY, Pa. -- Slippery Rock University won two of three
matches over the weekend in the Grove City Open women's water polo
competition to improve its record to 21-9.
The Rock dropped its opening match by an 11-10 score to Queens
before rebounding to defeat Salem International 11-4 and
Connecticut College 8-4.
Junior Shannon Holt (Sinking Spring/Wilson HS) led
The Rock in scoring in each of the three matches. She scored five
goals in the win over Salem and four goals each in the loss to
Queens and the win over Connecticut College.
Senior Karolyn Kiefer (Elmhurst, Ill./York HS) scored
four goals each in the loss to Queens and the win over Connecticut
College and had two tallies in the win over Salem.
Holt now has 85 goals in 30 matches this spring, while Kiefer has
65.
Senior goalie Lynn Boutin (Mechanicsburg/Cumberland Valley
HS) recorded a total of 21 saves in the three games to
improve her season total to 312.
The Rock returns to action Tuesday when it will take on Grove City
at 6:30 p.m. in action at Washington & Jefferson College.
