SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – Rock Pride
will be in full display on Wednesday, April 30, at the Texas
Roadhouse in the Clearview Mall when Slippery Rock University
athletic coaches, administrators and alumni serve as celebrity wait
staff members.
Members of the Texas Roadhouse wait staff will
do most of the work, but the celebrity wait staff will meet and
greet – and maybe even deliver some food and refreshments to
your table – from 6-9 p.m.
The event is designed to raise funds for The
Rock Athletic Scholarship Fund through tips and donations from
restaurant patrons.
The Rock Athletic Scholarship Fund provides
monies for scholarships awarded to SRU student-athletes.
As added enticement that evening, three Rock
head coaches – Dr. George Mihalik (football), Jeff
Messer (baseball) and Matt Meredith (men’s and
women’s tennis) – are scheduled to be the featured
guests on “The Rock Roadhouse Coaches Show” that will
be broadcast live from the restaurant between 7-8 p.m. on All Hitz
97.7 FM (WLER).
Coaches Mihalik, Messer and Meredith and Rock
director of athletics Paul Lueken and other Rock
coaches have promised that, for the right price – or even
just for the fun of it -- they will line dance with the Roadhouse
wait staff.
And lucky diners can win Rock souvenirs and
Texas Roadhouse dinner coupons.
So, come on out, partner, and enjoy a great
meal, rub elbows with Slippery Rock University coaches and help a
good cause.
