ROCK SOFTBALL DROPS TWO AT GENEVA
BEAVER FALLS, Pa. – Geneva College swept a softball
doubleheader from visiting Slippery Rock University on Friday by
scores of 5-0 and 3-1.
The
losses dropped SRU to 8-16 overall.
Freshman
infielder Nikki Banner (Pittsburgh/North Hills HS)
had a pair of hits in the first game and a double in the second
game to lead The Rock offensive attack.
Junior
shortstop Lori Slozat (Meadville/Meadville HS) and
junior second baseman Jesse Gump (Greensburg/Hempfield
HS) added a double each in the second game.
Freshman
right-hander Laurie Campbell (Grindstone/Geibel Catholic
HS) was the losing pitcher in the first game; she fell to
2-3 on the year.
Freshman
right-hander Shannon Tagliaferri (Williamsport/Loyalsock
Township HS) struck out nine batters in six innings but was
tagged with the second-game loss to fall to 1-5 on the year.
The
Rock hosts Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference-Western Division
rival Indiana University of Pa. in a 1 p.m. doubleheader
Saturday.
