» SRU Graduate Student Investigates Possibility of Windmill Power for Campus
   SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. –Since Pennsylvania deregulated its electricity market, several wind farms have been built around the state, like the windmills in Somerset County. A Slippery Rock University graduate student is taking the green power movement one step further by investigating whether conditions are right to install wind turbines on the SRU campus.

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – Slippery Rock University will host four “Summer Showcase” campus visits in July, giving high school juniors and seniors the opportunity to explore SRU. Prospective students will hear a panel discussion to learn about academic programs, residence life, financial assistance and Slippery Rock’s array of award winning, first-year support services, encompassed within the FYRST (first-year studies) program.

» 9 SRU Faculty Presented Travel Grants for Research
   SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – Nine Slippery Rock University faculty have been awarded $1,000 each as part of the President’s International Professional Development Grant Program and will use the funding to support their international travel related to the presentation of lectures and expand university-related research.

» SRU-Clarion-Edinboro Nurse Practitioner Program Selected by Nationwide Program
SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – Students in the Nurse Practitioner Program at Slippery Rock, Clarion and Edinboro universities, as well as nursing students at several other State System of Higher Education universities, will better understand human genetics and the relationship to health following the program’s inclusion in a nationwide genetics training seminar.

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – The four-part, summer Musicians’ Concert Band series originally planned for the Slippery Rock University campus has been relocated to Butler Intermediate School.

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. --  National awards presented for student retention and facilities innovations were highlighted in today’s regular quarterly meeting of Slippery Rock University’s Council of Trustees. 

» SRU to Host Summer Visual Arts Academy for High School Students
   SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – Now in its 14th year, the Summer Visual Arts Academy at Slippery Rock University gives high school students interested in visual arts, jazz, dance, theater and creative writing the opportunity to spend 12 days on campus. They also will receive two college credits, transferable to the university of their choice.

» Exiled Tibetan Monk to Offer Public Lectures at SRU
SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – An exiled Tibetan monk will summarize Tibetan Buddhist thought and introduce concepts of meditation to the public when he comes to Slippery Rock University for a two-day lecture series June 28-29. The lectures are free an open to the public, students or community groups.
