SFC Lukacs graduated from Greensburg Salem High School in 1988 and enlisted in the United States Army in January 1989. He attended One Station Unit Training at Fort Knox, Kentucky for 19D Cavalry Scout. Upon completion of his training at Fort Knox, he was assigned to Headquarters Company, 3rd BN, 69th Armor, Fort Stewart, Georgia where he served as Bradley dismount, driver, and gunner. He was reassigned in June 1993 to Headquarters Company, 2nd BN, 67th Armor, Friedberg, Germany where he served as a MK-19 gunner, HQ’s Company clerk, and HMMV truck Commander. Upon returning from overseas in May 1995, SFC Lukacs was assigned to C Troop, 1st Squadron, 16th Cavalry Regiment as a Bradley Section Sergeant. He was selected for Drill Sergeant duty in Apr 1997 and was reassigned to A Troop, 5th Squadron, 15th Cavalry as a Drill Instructor. After completing DS duty in Aug 1999, he was again sent overseas and assigned to A Troop, 4th Squadron, 7th Cavalry, Republic of South Korea as a Bradley Section Sergeant. In Sept 2000, SFC Lukacs returned stateside to Fort Polk, Louisiana, where he was assigned as a Primary Leadership Development Course Senior Instructor, Fort Polk NCO Academy. After two years as a Senior Instructor, he was reassigned in Oct 2002 to A Troop, 1st Squadron, 2nd Light Cavalry Regiment as a TOW and Scout Platoon Sergeant. In Sept 2004, SFC Lukacs was assigned to the Slippery Rock ROTC Dept. where he currently serves as the Training NCO and Military Science 100 Instructor.

SFC Lukacs’ deployments/rotations include Operation Brightstar, Egypt, Oct 1989; Operation Desert Shield/Storm, Saudi Arabia/Iraq, Aug 1990-Mar 1991; NTC, Ft. Irwin, CA, Nov-Dec 1991; Jungle Operations Training Center, Fort Sherman, Panama, June 1992; CMTC, Hohenfels, Germany, July 1993/May 1994; Operation Mega Gold, Ft. Campbell, KY, 1995; Operation Foal Eagle, Republic of Korea, June-July 2000; Operation Iraqi Freedom, Baghdad, Iraq, Apr 2003-Apr 2004; Operation Resolute Sword, An Najaf, Iraq, Apr-Jul 2004.

SFC Lukacs’ military schools and training include ITV Gunners Course (E-9), Combat Lifesaver Course, Jungle Operations Training School (Jungle Expert), Bradley Transition Course (D-3), Primary Leadership Development Course, Basic Non-commissioned Officer Course, Basic Instructor Course (H), NBC NCO/Officer Defense Course, Drill Sergeant School (X), Small Group Leader Course, the Advanced Non-commissioned Officer Course, the Military History Instructor's Course, and the Faculty Development Course.

SFC Lukacs’ awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster, the Meritorious Service Medal, the Army Commendation Medal with 4 Oak Leaf Clusters, Army Achievement Medal with 2 Oak Leaf Clusters, Good Conduct Medal (5th award), National Defense Service Medal with Bronze Service Star, Southwest Asia Service Medal with 2 Bronze Service Stars, Global War on Terrorism Service and Expeditionary Medals, Korean Defense Service Medal, NCO Professional Development Ribbon (with #3), Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon (3rd award), Kuwait Liberation Medal (Kuwait), Kuwait Liberation Medal (Saudi Arabia), the Driver's Badge (Wheel and Tracked), the Combat Action Badge, the German Army Marksmanship Badge (Schutzensneur), the Drill Sergeant Identification Badge, and the Presidential Unit Citation (2nd ACR). SFC Lukacs has also been awarded the Order of Saint George (Bronze) and is a Member of the Cavalry's Order of the Spur.
