» Automatic Heart Defibrillators Distributed Across SRU Campus
SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. -- In an effort to help save lives following onset of a sudden heart attack, Slippery Rock University has made available 14 automatic external defibrillators, known as "AEDs," at high traffic locations throughout campus. The units have also become standard equipment for campus police cruisers.

» Eight SRU Army ROTC Cadets Complete National Leadership Camp
SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – Eight Slippery Rock University students have graduated from the recent Army Reserve Officers’ Training Corps National Advanced Leadership Camp held at Ft. Lewis, Wash., after taking part in what is often considered the single, most important training event in preparation for future commissioning as an Army officer.

» Jared Box Service Campagn Part of National Honors Convention at SRU
 SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – Student leaders from 35 colleges and universities will gather Friday [Oct. 3] at Slippery Rock University to assemble “Jared Boxes” for sick children as part of the three-day Lambda Sigma Society’s annual national convention, hosted by the university.

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – For the fourth straight year enrollment at Slippery Rock University has increased to now stand at 7,789, the highest figure since 1991.

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – Constance Congdon’s two-act play “ Tales of the Lost Formicans” is a travel guide of middle America as interpreted by aliens who are studying 20th-century American customs by immersing themselves in its social culture which will be presented in eight performances by Slippery Rock University students.

» 'Hollywood Homecoming' Theme to Welcome Alumni, Friends Back to SRU
  SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – Alumni, parents and friends will be welcomed to a “Hollywood Homecoming” when Slippery Rock University hosts its annual homecoming events Oct. 10-11, including a 10 a.m. on-campus parade and a 2 p.m. football game against Shippensburg University in N. Kerr Thompson Stadium.

» SRU Plans Three 'Saturday Showcase' Events for High School Juniors, Seniors
     SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – After welcoming the largest and most academically accomplished freshman class in years, Slippery Rock University will host three “Saturday Showcase” open-house style events this fall to give high school juniors and seniors the chance to learn about opportunities at SRU.

» 'Computer Basics' for Seniors Planned at SRU's Wexford Center
WEXFORD, Pa. – Seniors and retired adults interested in family histories or letters, searching the Internet for information or just wanting to send e-mail, including photographs, to family and friends are being urged to consider a special “Computer Basics” class offered by Slippery Rock University’s Institute for Learning in Retirement.

» SRU Recreation Center Offers Adult, Youth Swim Lessong, Lifeguard, First Aid Training
SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – Slippery Rock University’s Robert N. Aebersold Student Recreation Center is offering  its members a series of three youth and adult swim lesson program and the general community a series of first aid and lifeguard certifications as part of its fall programs.

» SRU Drummer Grows as Musician During Job at Disneyland
A new twist on the tale played itself out this summer when Slippery Rock University senior Patrick Kennedy, of Butler, qualified to became the drummer for Disneyland’s 2003 All-American College Band. Only 20 college students in the nation passed Disney’s audition to join the elite band for 11 weeks.

As of 5 p.m. Thursday NO CHANGES in regular class schedules were anticipated for Friday.   However, should conditions require action, any changes will be posted at this site. SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – Slippery Rock University is constructing a bat house on campus for ecological study, environmental stewardship and as an alternative to chemical pest management.

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – Joe Clark, the former New Jersey high school principal who has made a difference in the lives of countless students and administrators across the nation, been the subject of a feature film, and was spotlighted in both Time magazine and on CBS’ “60 Minutes” will be the featured speaker at Slippery Rock University Sept. 17.

» EDITOR'S ADVISORY: Pa. Secretary of Education to Visit Sept. 9
Pennsylvania’s new Secretary of Education Dr. Vicki L. Phillips will deliver the keynote address at the Slippery Rock University College of Education Fall School Administrator’s Breakfast Seminar set for Sept. 9. The event, open to the press and invited school superintendents from western Pennsylvania, will run 8 to 10:30 a.m. in Boozel Dining Hall on the SRU campus.

» Longtime SRU Benefactor, Honorary Degree Recipient Stanley Kraus Dies
SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – T he man for whom Slippery Rock University’s Kraus Hall is named, a recipient of an honorary doctor of laws degree from the university and a generous donor to The Rock, Stanley Kraus died Aug. 27 in a Boca Raton, Fla., hospital. Originally from New Castle, he had most recently made his home in Florida. He was 81.
