CALIFORNIA, Pa. – Hosting California University of Pa. handed
Slippery Rock University a 30-21, 30-22, 28-30, 33-31 loss Tuesday
night in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference-Western
Division opener for both teams.
The Rock is now 5-4 overall, while California improved to 8-2.
For The Rock, sophomore outside hitter Lindsay Weber
(Pittsburgh/Fox Chapel HS) had 18 kills and 10 digs,
while senior outside hitter Jen Howser (Grafton, OH/Elyria
HS) added 12 kills and 17 digs.
Senior middle blocker Erin Green (Avon Lake, OH/Avon Lake
HS) had seven kills and four blocks; junior defensive
specialist/setter Cori Harte (East Rochester, NH/Spaulding
HS)had 22 assists and nine digs; senior outside
hitter/defensive specialist Rae El Johnson (Port
Allegany/Port Allegany HS)had 13 digs and freshman
defensive specialist Gwen Oberlin (Grove City/Grove City
HS) added 12 digs.
The Rock returns to action on Saturday when it will host PSAC-West
rival Edinboro University in a 2 p.m. match at Morrow Field
House.
