SRU RECREATION CENTER OFFERS ADULT AND
YOUTH SWIM LESSONS;
FIRST AID AND LIFEGUARD CERTIFICATION
PROGRAMS PLANNED
SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – Slippery Rock University’s Robert
N. Aebersold Student Recreation Center is offering its
members a series of three youth and adult swim lesson program and
the general community a series of first aid and lifeguard
certifications as part of its fall programs.
Session
1 swim lessons for center members are offered as
follows:
Adults
from 5 to 6 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays and 11 a.m. to noon
Saturdays through Oct. 4.
Youth
(ages 3 and older) from 5 to 6 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays and 11
a.m. to noon on Saturdaysthrough Oct. 4.
Session
2, same time schedule Oct. 6-Nov. 1.
Session
3, same time schedule, Nov. 3-Dec. 6.
The
fee is $15 per session. Similar programs for center members will be
offered spring semester with classes starting Jan. 26.
Swimming instruction includes water exploration,
primary skills and stroke readiness.
First Aid
Certification will be offered from 7 to 10 p.m. Oct. 20 and Nov. 7.
The fee is $30 for recreation center members and $40 for
non-members. The spring semester courses will open in
January.
The Lifeguard
Certification Program for those ages 15 and older who have
completed a required swimming test will be offered from 5 to
8 p.m. Sundays Oct. 5-Dec. 2, or Feb. 15-April 26. The fee is $125
for center members and $200 for non-members.
The
Aebersold Student Recreation Center is an SRU Student Government
Association project providing students, faculty, staff and the
community with a comprehensive recreation center facility,
including basketball and volleyball courts, an indoor running
track, climbing wall and indoor pool as well as the Russell Wright
Fitness Center. The center is open for community
memberships.
