Academic Affiliation
Agreements
All agreements involving clinics,
internships and other academic affiliations must be submitted to
University Legal Counsel for review for form and legality. The
purpose of legal review is to protect the university, and its
employees, from liability arising from the contractual
relationship. Host entities have attempted to insert provisions in
affiliation agreements that not only shift significant liability to
the institution and its students, but also violate requirements set
forth in Commonwealth law and regulations.
All agreements must be submitted to
the Contracts Office to make any necessary revisions. The Contracts
Office will then submit the agreement to University Legal Counsel
for review. After the agreement has been reviewed for contract
language acceptable to the Commonwealth, the agreement will be
returned to the appropriate department for signature and forwarding
to the host entity.
