» SRU Dance Concert to Showcase Works by Guest Artist, Faculty, Students
SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – Works by guest artist Helanius J. Wilkins, department faculty and students will highlight the Slippery Rock University dance department’s fall semester concert set for 4 and 8 p.m. Saturday [Dec. 6] in Swope Recital Hall.

» Cincinnati's Lauren Kinker Crowned 2003 Homecoming Queen at SRU
SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – Cincinnati’s Lauren Kinker recently became the first Ohioan crowned homecoming queen at  Slippery Rock University of Pennsylvania. A senior with dual majors in dance and exercise science, Kinker has a 3.8 grade-point average and aspires to career in healthcare.

» New Schmieler Leadership Institute Sets First Formal Program
SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – Dr. Carol Matteson, president of Mount Ida College and a former assistant to the president at Slippery Rock University, will lecture on "The Many Faces of Leadership" when the newly formed Claire R. Schmieler leadership Institute for Professional Women holds its inaugural program Nov. 21.

» Musicians' Concert Band, Holiday Chorus Plan Season Opener
SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – The Musicians’ Concert Band and Holiday Chorus will bring “The Most Wonderful Time of the Year” to Slippery Rock University with a 4 p.m. concert Dec. 7 in Miller Auditorium, featuring music of the season.

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – As the nation gears up for the Great American Smokeout on Thursday [Nov. 20], Slippery Rock University has launched a major smoking cessation campaign that will continue for seven months. Components include stop-smoking kits, awareness events and an education shelter.

Slippery Rock, PA--The Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference champion Rock women's soccer team will meet conference rival West Chester in a semifinal game at 1:30 p.m. on Friday at Adelphi University in New York.

» Rare Fossils Bequeathed to SRU by Graduate
SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. - A Slippery Rock University graduate bequeathed a "rare and unique" collection of fossils to the university, providing outstanding opportunities for students to examine the plant life and geology of western Pennsylvania as it existed 320 million years ago.

» Two Winners Named in Chad Williamson Memorial Scholarship Competition
SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – Ashley Robin Moore, a mezzo-soprano senior majoring in voice from Bethel Park, and Jade Kondrasuk, a soprano senior majoring in music therapy from Ellwood City, who wrote and performed her own song, have been named co-recipients of Slippery Rock University’s Chad Williamson Memorial Scholarship Competition for 2003.

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. -- A Slippery Rock University accounting team, including four accounting students, has been named one of five state finalists in the Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants Business Plan Challenge and will next compete in Phase II set for Nov. 15 in Philadelphia.
