Bachelor of Arts in French Progress Sheet (27-42 hours)

Basic Skill Courses (0-15 hours).  Exemption is possible from these courses according to performance on the placement test.  Native speakers should consult the Department of Modern Languages and Cultures.

______ 320 Main Currents in French Literature French 201 or 220 or permission
______ 350 French Linguistics and Phonetics French 201 or 220 or permission
______ 400 Advanced French Grammar French 300
One of the following literature courses:
______ 335 Women in French Literature French 201 or 220 or permission
______ 404 Modern French Literature 6 hours of French at 300 level
______ 411 Literature of the Classical Period 6 hours of French at 300 level
One of the following civilization courses:

Electives (6 hours). Any 300- or 400-level French course may be chosen as an elective including the civilization course not chosen under required courses.
Second Language (optional). Students not pursuing a double major are strongly encouraged to complete the skills block in Spanish, German, Chinese, Japanese, Korean or Russian.
Second Language Minor (optional). A minor in the second language may be earned by completing the courses indicated.  For a German minor: 102, 103, 201, 220, and two 300-level courses.  For a Spanish minor: 102, 103, 201 or 220, and two 300-level courses.
Study Abroad Program (highly recommended).  Students should plan to spend a summer or semester in a country where French is spoken.  Credits earned may be used to fill the above requirements.
