Accident Investigations

In the event accidents occur, safety specialists are available to conduct in-depth investigations into the causes of those incidents. Accidents are carefully analyzed in order to prevent their recurrence.

Office Safety

Because office conditions frequently contribute to work place injuries, the EH&S Department is prepared to provide employee recommendations designed to make their work area safer and more ergonomically sound. Safety personnel can assist by providing consultation on computer work station design, lighting, and the selection of ergonomically correct furniture. In addition, safety personnel are ready to help by training employees on the health and safety aspects of video display terminal use.

Departmental Safety Inspections

Safety staff members conduct multi-disciplinary inspections of campus facilities to help identify and correct conditions that may result in an accident or injury. To arrange for an inspection of your department, contact the EH&S.

Construction Plan Review

EH&S personnel routinely review plans for new construction and remodeling projects in order to ensure that all necessary health and safety standards are maintained. Safety problems can be avoided by allowing the EH&S Department to help you in designing new work spaces and in identifying potentially hazardous work conditions.

Audio/Visual Library

SRU's Environmental Health & Safety Department maintains a number of audio/visual programs to assist campus units with their health and safety training. Training subjects include safe lifting, chemical safety, hazard communication, fire safety, physical safety, and a wide range of other topics.
