» December Graduate One Of Two In Nation Selected For Disney Internship
SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – Disney’s Wide World of Sports selected Slippery Rock University athletic training graduate Shannon Munday of Rew for one of its two spring internships in Orlando, Fla.  Munday, who graduated Dec. 13, will assess injuries to baseball, softball and lacrosse players.

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – Indoor swimming, basketball, volleyball, badminton, ping-pong, door prizes, contests and music will be part of the fun when Slippery Rock University’s Robert N. Aebersold Student Recreation Center hosts its annual New Year’s Eve party 8 p.m. to 1 a.m. The public is invited.

» SRU's Ron Gargasz, Carter Administration Official, Presented Environmental Award
 SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – Ron Gargasz, director of conservation for the Jimmy Carter administration and a founder of the sustainable environmental movement at Slippery Rock University, has received the 2003 Western Pennsylvania Environmental Award for his life’s work of promoting organic farming. Gargasz received the award  from Dominion and the Pennsylvania Environmental Council.

 WEXFORD, Pa. – Students from western Pennsylvania who want to become teachers have more options following today’s signing of education agreements between Slippery Rock University and the Community College of Allegheny County, the Community College of Beaver County and Butler County Community College.

» Award-winning Post-Gazette Columnist to Speak at SRU Commencement Dec. 13
SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – Tony Norman, award-winning, general interest columnist at the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette will deliver Slippery Rock University’s winter commencement address as the university bestows graduate hoods to 71 master’s degree candidates and awards diplomas to more than 420 undergraduates in 1:30 p.m. Dec. 13 ceremonies.

» EDITOR'S ADVISORY: Project Christmas Elf
The Slippery Rock University Institute for Community, Service-Learning and Nonprofit Leadership’s expansion of its “Project Christmas Elf” into Lawrence County will provide hundreds of Lawrence and Butler county children with a memorable Christmas. A “Gather the Gifts” reception will be held from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Thursday in SRU’s Russell Wright Alumni House offering opportunities for feature photos – including a number of bicycles that will be distributed to youngsters from the two counties.

» Workshop to Detail Board of Director Responsibilities
SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – The rules are changing for those serving on corporate and non-profit boards of directors and to address those changes Slippery Rock University’s Office of Continuing Education has developed two, daylong workshops designed to provide the critical skills necessary for board members, chief executive officers and chief financial offices to better understand their responsibilities and liabilities.

» SRU Concert Choir, Chamber Singers to Perform Sunday
SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – The Slippery Rock University Concert Choir and Chamber Singers will present works by Mendelssohn, Mozart, Bach, Vivaldi and others in a holiday concert featuring members of the university’s brass, percussion, string and woodwinds studios at 8 p.m. Sunday [Dec. 7] in Swope Recital Hall.
