MINIMUM OF 18 HOURS REQUIRED
The Department of Modern Languages and Cultures offers the following for a general minor in a second language. All courses in the minor are to be taken in the same second language.
Students may exempt one or more of the beginning courses. In any case a minimum of 18 hours is necessary to complete any minor.
Therefore, students beginning beyond the 101 level due to previous language experience are required to take additional electives chosen from any of the courses offered in the language except 210, Literature in Translation, to reach a total of 18 hours.
The courses required for the minor by the department are listed in the Slippery Rock University catalog as are the requirements for the major. The B.S. programs require 27-45 hours; the B.A. programs require 24-42 hours. The only course in the department which cannot count for the major or the minor is 210.

Native speaker minor: Native speakers choosing to minor in Spanish shall complete 18 hours of course work at the 300 and 400 level in accordance with the guidelines outlined for the native speaker major.
