Purpose:

To establish a policy for release time for the use of the Russell Wright Fitness Center by Employee Wellness Program participants.

Objectives:

  • To provide an incentive to employees who choose to particpate in a University sponsored wellness program.
  • To ensure operational efficiency in the use of release time for employees to participate in the program with minimal impact on campus departments and work areas.
  • To boost employee productivity, self-esteem and to create a positive work-related experience for all participants.

Policy:

Employees who participate in the University's Employee Wellness Program, sponsored by the Division of Student Life, will be provided a reduced semester's membership at the Aebersold Recreation Center's Russell Wright Fitness Center.  With supervisory approval, participants will be permitted one and one-half hours per week of release time, in three thirty-minute increments, either before or after the workday.  An extension to the lunch period is not allowable.  That is, for example, for an 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. workday, the participant's workday would either begin at 8:30 a.m. or end at 4:00 p.m. on the days the employee attends a wellness program session. Any additional time must be the employee's own.  This release time applies only to the semester during which the employee participates in the Wellness Program as a one-time privilege.
