SARAH LIPNER ELECTED PRESIDENT OF
THE PENNSYLVANIA COLLEGIATE MUSIC EDUCATORS
ASSOCIATION
SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. - Sarah Lipner, a senior music education
major at Slippery Rock University, was elected as the 2003-2004
state president of the Pennsylvania Collegiate Music Educators
Association at its convention.
As president, the Pittsburgh native will oversee 36
colleges/universities in Pennsylvania, attend Pennsylvania Music
Educators Association state board meetings, various conferences and
write for the organization’s
publications.
“My position as president of PCMEA is giving me a chance
to reach out and spread my love of music to my fellow peers all
over the state,” says Lipner.
A graduate of Taylor Allderdice High School, Lipner now
serves as the assistant band director of her alma mater. She
is also the drum major of the Marching Pride (SRU’s marching
band), concertmaster of the SRU Symphony Orchestra and
treasurer of Mu Phi Epsilon, the campus music honorary. She is
studying the violin at SRU.
Lipner plans
to graduate in December and then begin a career as a music
educator.
