Dr. DaNine J. Fleming is the Director for the Office of Intercultural Programs.  She has held this position since August 2002.  Her major responsibilities include but are not limited to providing the general philosophical framework for the Office of Intercultural Programs, monitoring and developing programs for historically bypassed students, providing leadership opportunities, cultural development and student programs to enhance the opportunities for diversity for the campus community. Additional responsibilities include but are not limited to the planning, evaluating and budgeting of programs for historically bypassed students as well as assisting in the retention of students, with a particular emphasis on historically bypassed students.  Mrs. Fleming is a certified trainer for the Slippery Rock University chapter of the National Coalition Building Institute (NCBI) Prejudice Reduction model.

Prior to her appointment, she served as the Assistant Director for the Office of Intercultural Programs at the College of Charleston in Charleston, South Carolina. During her four-year tenure at the College of Charleston she coordinated the Minority Student Ambassador Program, founded and directed the Creating Excellence Among Learners (CEAL) elementary mentoring program, and served as an instructor for the Office of Educational Services.

She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education from the oldest historically black institution in South Carolina, the distinguished Claflin University, a Master of Education in Early Childhood Education from the University of Charleston, an Educational Specialist degree in Educational Leadership and Administration from South Carolina State University and she earned a Ed.D. in Educational Leadership from Youngstown State University.  

 

Dr. Fleming is the advisor for the Student Union for Minority Affairs (SUMA), and Lambda Sigma Chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc.

Dr. Fleming has a passion for social justice, equality for historically bypassed groups and is an agent of change. She is a member of Lambda Lambda Zeta Chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc., an executive member of Tamika and Friends, Inc. National HPV Foundation, National Association of Student Affairs Professionals (NASPAP), the National Association of Student Personnel Administrators (NASPA) and she is a community volunteer.  If you have any questions or need further assistance, please feel free to contact her using the information provided above.

Mr. Clay is the Assistant Director for the Office of Intercultural Programs.  He has held this position since June 2003.  His major responsibilities include coordinating social, cultural, and educational programs addressing issues of diversity and multiculturalism, advising minority student organizations, supervising graduate students and student assistants, and developing retention programs for students of color.  Additional responsibilities include but are not limited to assisting students with the resolution of their academic, career, personal, and social concerns as well as promoting campus pluralism.  Mr. Clay is a certified trainer for the Slippery Rock University chapter of the National Coalition Building Institute's (NCBI).

Mr. Clay currently serves as the advisor to the Black Action Society, Gospel Choir and Alpha Zeta Alpha Chapter of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Incorporated.  He also is the coordinator of Building Bridges, a diversity peer education program.

Prior to his appointment, he served as the Graduate Advisor of Multicultural Services for the Office of Student Activities at Western Illinois University in Macomb, Illinois.  During his two-year tenure at Western Illinois University he coordinated the Campus Dialogue on Multicultural Issues; and implemented the Dr. King Day of Service and the Umoja Summit, a minority student leadership conference.  He is also a former educator for the Chicago Public Schools System.

Mr. Clay holds a Master of Science in College Student Personnel from Western Illinois University, and a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration from Olivet College.

Ms. Szamrey is the Graduate Assistant for the Office of Intercultural Programs.  Ms. Szamrey graduated from Geneva College with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology.  Ms. Szamrey is a resident of New Castle, PA and is currently pursuing a Masters degree and she also is pursuing a license to counsel.
