B. Report from Technical
Support - Dean Lindey
-Phone system update. We are going to talk to
the campus about our future phone system needs a session with the
phone system consultant will be scheduled soon and announced across
campus.
-CAPE-faculty collaboration between state system campuses are due
by November 15, 2003
-Update on Faculty Server. It's up. E-mail announcement will be
sent on October 27th, 2003.
C. Call for Tackforce
members and update - Bette Joseph
-Update sheet for taskforce sign up. Please
see Jenny Tomal
-Plagiarism Taskforce- John Nichols
-Two software packages and limited licenses
purchased for each.
-February TLTR meeting will include a demo
of these software packages
D. Report from Technical
Assistant - Chrissy Le Simmers
-Helped with scanning, setup issues, productivity
instruction, grading spreadsheet, test databases, e-mail setup,
Palm Pilot help.
II. New Business

Information Technology Strategic Plan - Melba Tomeo
-IT Planning Committee suggestions
-User groups on specific software
-Baseline skill set expectations for faculty
-Continue TLTR grants
-Please send your thoughts and comments to Melba
B. Mini PT3 grants, an
example - Suzanne Rose
-Inspiration software - CD samples - visual
instruction using the software and posted work on Blackboard.
Cumulated with students holding a workshop for in-service
teachers. Last phase involves students going for free to see
the teachers that they trained using their new knowledge in their
classrooms.
III. Program
A. Linkfinder - Judy
Silva
-Link citation to full text articles, regardless of
database in which the article resides. There are some
authentication issues that are expected to be solved this
semester.
B. Federated Searching
with Encompass - Del Hamilton
-This searching software is not yet available for
the SRU campus. Once available, if you log into the system,
you can save searches and articles.
C. FYI - Information
Literacy Tutorial - Jane Smith, Melba Tomeo
-Texas Information Literacy Tutorial (TILT) - the
original source. Won customized for use at SRU.
-Campus is encouraged to begin using them immediately
-Students are expected to enjoy using this. Please send us your
comments and experiences.
-FYI has quizzes and survey software included.
November Meeting - English Department is our
host.
