C. Faculty Server -
Henry Magusiak
1. Goal is to provide
new web development space for students, facultry and
departments.
2. Server details
- Windows 2003 Server
- Supports ASP, Java Script, VB

- Supports mapped drives
- Front Page, Dreamweaver
3. SRU Facultry
- Gets an account and folder
- Should happen automatically
- URL for faculty homepage
- Directory Structure (to prepare
old W drive)

6. For departments, if you're using
WW1 server now, and Front Page extensions, you'll be contacted and
offered assistance to move your sites to the new server.
7. Student web space-classes
- (sample URL)
-Web content development area for
each class that needs to develop pages and see the results
published ont he Internet.
- Permissions will be set to give
students read-write access to their own folder as well as the
faculty member.
- Servers will be delected after the
end of each semester.
- Encourage students to back up
their own work by burning a CD for themselves
8. A setup page will be offered to
the faculty member. For example, viewers can be turned off
for all others. Referred to as "Worlk read". If turned
off, a login will be requested to read/write anything within the
folder.
- PC and Mac files storage options
for your needs. PC-maps as W:drive. MAC-places shortcut on
desktop.
- SRU templates will be
available
-This will eliminate the need for
mapping drives. These folders will be setup for each faculty
member. If a class folder is requested, students will
automatically get a mapped drive for each requested folder.
II. GIS Systems

A. Demonstration of
the GIS lab and the Smartboard presentation system. Special
Database of the SRU Campus Arboretum
1. Very nice, high
tech information system providing details (database driven) about
our trees on campus. Information includes tree information,
tag data, and co-ordinates of individual tree locations.
2. This database system is helping
with planning of tree plantings.
3. This database is available on the
I: drive. It includes extensive data on the campus including
drainage and sidewalk locations.

you only need to download the ARCREADER viewer from:

expanded for use by the State of Pennsylvania as well.
National databases are also being developed. See for
health data.
B. Magic Lantern
Project
1. The magic lantern
website shows a library of historical images. We are
fortunate to have a large collection of these old glass slides
housed in a collection here at SRU.
