PERFORMANCE OF
‘REQUIEM FOR FRED ROGERS’ FEATURED ON NATIONAL PUBLIC
RADIO
SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – More than 1,000 area residents
turned out for two performances of “In Memoriam: A Requiem
for Fred Rogers,” written by Pittsburgher Luke Mayernick in
honor of the famed children’s television personality and
performed by Slippery Rock University’s Orchestra and
Choir.
The
premiere performance in St. Justin Church, Mt. Washington,
attracted the attention of WDUQ radio and was featured on National
Public Radio’s “All Things Considered” news
program Tuesday evening.
Mr.
Rogers died Feb. 27, 2003.
