Sprinkler Locations And Shut Off Procedure
Policy #F&P 2003-10
I. PURPOSE
To provide instructions on the sprinkler shut off locations in
campus buildings in
order to turn off water flow.
II. POLICY
Once a determination has been made that there is no real fire
situation, the
sprinkler system can be turned off by those in authority. Location
of shut off and
drain valves in campus buildings are as follows:
Aebersold Recreation Center (ARC) - shut off valve is located on
the back wall in
the large storeroom next to the swimming pool. The main drain is
also located in
this room and both are yellow tagged.
Art Building I - shut off and drain valves are located in the
locked room off the
basement hallway opposite the elevator and mechanical room. Door
and valves are
tagged.
Bookstore - shut off and drain valves are located in the back right
corner of the
basement showroom area. Door and valves are tagged.
Pearl K. Stoner (East-West Gym) Instructional Complex - shut off
and drain
valves are located in West Gym basement mechanical room where the
fire panel is
located. Door and valves are tagged.
Residence Halls - Founders/Dodds/Harner/Bard - the main shut off
valves are
located in each stairwell. Each floor has its own shut off valves
and these are
located in the stairwell. There are two for each floor. You must
turn both off to
shut off water flow. Drain valves are located in the janitors
closet. Doors and
valves are tagged. Locations of drain valves are:
* Bard Hall - closets on both wings/sides
* Dodds Hall - closet on Bard Hall side
* Founders Hall - closet on Rock Apt. side
* Harner Hall - closets on both sides
* Rhoads Hall - Closet, central stairwell
* Kraus Hall - closet on front side
