SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – Kite making and flying, art projects, food and a host of hands-on educational activities for children in grades 4 through 6 headline the April 24 Earth Day Festival at Slippery Rock University’s Robert A. Macoskey Center for Sustainable Systems Education and Research. This year’s theme is “It’s a Kids’ Earth.”

Hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The Macoskey Center has hosted Earth Day events for more than 10 years to increase awareness of environmental issues. The Macoskey Center is located on Harmony Road across from the SRU football stadium.

This year, the festival celebrates the environment through the eyes of children.  Festival features for adults include an ecological art show, performances by local music groups, an apple tree grafting workshop, information on environmental issues and food.
