I. Purpose 

To establish a policy for commending the prudent use of sick leave. 

II. Objectives 
A. To reinforce and encourage managers and staff employees to limit their use of sick leave.
B. To increase productivity.

III. Policy 

Annually, managers and staff who have used no sick leave during that year will receive a certificate and a letter of commendation from the president. Those who used five days or less of sick leave will receive a letter of commendation from the president. 

In determining the amount of sick leave used, only personal sick leave will be considered. Family sick leave and bereavement leave will not be counted. Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA) leave will be included if it involves an employee's personal illness.
