
I. Job Summary
Russell Wright Fitness Center Exercise Specialists are involved in assisting members in the use of all aerobic and weight training equipment and help with the designing and implementation of exercise programs. The exercise specialist will accomplish this by providing information, training and supervision. These students are on duty to stress safety and proper use of equipment.
II. Job Relationship
A. Responsible to: Campus Recreation Director
B. Supervised by: Coordinator of Wellness and the RWFC
C. In the absence of the coordinator and director, the RWFC Exercise Specialist is under the supervision of the Graduate Assistants and Building Supervisor.
III. Responsibilities
A. Knowledge of the physical layout and proper use of the equipment in the activity area.
B. Supervision of all activity while stressing safety and proper use of RWFC equipment.
C. Daily inspection of fitness center equipment, documentation of faulty equipment and proper signage applied.
D. Perform daily maintenance/custodial duties.
E. Clean and maintain all weight equipment.
F. Maintain positive relations and rapport with RWFC patrons and guests in serving as an ambassador for the Campus Recreation Department.
G. Provide first aid in emergency situations
H. Develop and implement exercise programs for members.
I. Provide fitness assessments for students and patrons.
J. Other duties as assigned.
IV. Position Qualifications
D. Certified in Standard First Aid and CPR (American Heart Assoc. Level "C" or American Red Cross Professional Rescuer). Exercise Science majors is preferred.
