 Office Assistant Job Description 



I. Job Summary

The Office Assistant is responsible for assisting the Clerk Typist II with the customer service, clerical and receptionist duties of the division. Typing, operating cash register, computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Word are preferred for employment in this position. The office assistant will work directly with members and guests, providing courteous, friendly and professional assistance.

II. Job Relationship
A. Reports to: Campus Recreation Director.
B. Supervised by: Clerk Typist II.

III. Responsibilities
A. Knowledge and performance of office operations and procedures.
B. Knowledge of the campus recreation operation in order to provide quality customer service.
C. Serves as the primary receptionist.
1. Answers and directs incoming phone calls.
2. Greeting, directing, and assisting visitors.
D. Utilizing the computer to:
1. Create flyers and other forms of publicity.
2. Complete correspondence.
3. Creating and updating departmental forms.
4. Initiate and update membership information.
E. Filing and typing.
F. Perform general maintenance/custodial functions as requested.
G. Attend mandatory Staff Meeting and Staff Training.
H. Other duties as assigned.

IV. Position Qualifications
A. Typing, computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Word.
B. Good interpersonal skills.
C. Good oral and writing articulation skills.
D. Accurate record keeping.
E. Must maintain current CPR/First Aid Certification.

V. General
A. Promote ROCK PRIDE in spirit and in action.
B. Attend mandatory Staff Meetings and Staff Training.

This position requires the student employee become knowledgeable of the Class Software System to use for a variety of responsibilities.

Fri: 6am - 9pm
Sat: 9am - 9pm
Sun: Noon - 9pm

Play is prohibited at the MAC (McFarland Recreational Sports Complex) when the RED FLAG is flying. The MAC will be closed from December 1-March 1.

When the University is on a 2 hour delay due to weather, the ARC will not open up until 10:00 a.m..
