The Office of Campus Recreation is affiliated with the National Intramural Recreational Sports Association (NIRSA). NIRSA is the national organization providing international leadership for campus recreation. The association is committed to be recognized internationally as the leader in recreation within higher education, dedicated to excellence in student and professional development, education, research and standards. NIRSA's commitment, creativity and strategic partnerships are consistently demonstrated through outstanding programs, facilities and services.
The state branch of NIRSA is the Pennsylvania Intramural Recreational Sports Association (PIRSA). PIRSA's purpose is to promote and enhance the quality of recreational sports programs in various settings throughout the state by means of professional meetings, publications, dissemination of ideas and maintenance of policies consistent with the philosophy of the NIRSA.
The professional team of Slippery Rock University's Office of Campus Recreation has been very involved in both the national and state branches of the organization as attending conferences and workshops, hosted state workshops, serving on committees, making professional presentations and serving as officers.
