FITNESS PROGRAMS

The Russell Wright Fitness Center (RWFC) Team is comprised of one professional staff member and multiple exercise specialists (upper class exercise science majors, physical therapy students, exercise rehabilitative science interns) prepared to assist all students and patrons in enhancing their exercise programs and improving their fitness levels.  Please ask a member of the RWFC Team for assistance or set up an appointment.  The minimum age to use the RWFC, aside from selected programs, is 16 years of age.  ARC Membership must be current through duration of all programs.  Contact Brian Mortimer @ 724.738.4413 for information regarding RWFC appointments, programs, Rock PT interview and operations.   Fall 2012 & Spring 2013 FITNESS PROGRAMS

ACIS Awards: An incentive program to reward physical activity among SRU students, including participation in informal recreation, fitness classes and individual workouts at the RWFC.  Participants have the chance to win prizes and a chance to win a trip to the ACIS Fitness Nationals.

Exercise Programming: Develop
an individualized fitness program to meet individual goals including guidelines for aerobic, muscular fitness and flexibility.

Equipment Orientation: Instruction for correct and safe operation of cardiovascular, selectorized, plate loaded and fee weight equipment.  Topics include proper seat adjustment, movement speed, posture, breathing and muscle group isolation.

Fitness Assessments: Resting heart rate, body composition, flexibility, muscular strength, muscular endurance and cardiovascular fitness.  Establish exercise program goals.

Master Personal Training and “Buddy” Programs: These programs provide the opportunity to work with a certified personal trainer-1 hour appointment.  Add a “Buddy” to reduce the cost.

Personal Training Consultation: One hour consultation with the Coordinator of the RWFC covering personal goals, evaluation of current medical state, basic fitness assessment, programming guidelines and orientation to equipment.

ROCK Personal Training (ROCK PT): Program is conducted in conjunction with the Exercise Science Departments  Senior Synthesis class as clients are matched up with a senior Exercise Science major.  Pre test, post test and two sessions per week during the semester.  Must be ARC member with membership current through duration of program. Personal Fitness Trainer will work to set and achieve the client’s fitness goals, improve your exercise technique, overcome training plateaus and motivate through consistent, progressive and fun.

ROCK Teen Fit: Ages 12-17 instructional weight training course designed specifically for youth with a minimum height of 4’10” focusing on using correct lifting procedures and the five fitness components muscular strength and endurance, flexibility, body composition and cardiovascular conditioning.   Completion of this class enable you to use the RWFC during the summer for an addition $10.00 with the parent who is a current ARC Member.

Summer Youth Certificate: Ages 10-15 Youth whose parents are a current ARC Member are eligible for this program that enables youth with a minimum height of 4’10” to use the RWFC during summer hours.  The student must participate in three orientations and pass the fitness test. Adult ARC Members must supervise youth in RWFC.

Wright Personal Training and “Buddy” Programs:  A Wright Personal Trainer (WTP) will provide the training to correctly use equipment, establish an exercise routine address and medical issues to assist in meeting individual goals.  One hour appointments.  The “Buddy” program offers a discount for two participants.
