 Group Exercise Classes 

 

SPOTLIGHT

Group Exercise Classes are FREE to all SRU students an ARC Members.  Non ARC Members can purchase a daily guest pass to access a class.  These classes are designed to improve cardiovascular health and body composition.  Classes are taught by certified instructors or trained professionals and are conducted daily during the calendar year.  Children under the age of 12 are prohibited.  A complete schedule of classes will be posted and available at the start of each semester at the ARC's Welcome Center and below on our website.  Group Exercise classes listed in GREEN are conducted on land in Gym B.  Classes listed in BLACK are conducted in Gym A.  Those listed in BLUE are Aqua classes scheduled for the Aquatic Center. Spinning, Yoga and Fitness Mania classes (RED) are conducted in the RPM Room.

CLASS DESCRIPTIONS:  
Arthritis Stretch:  Participants will use gentle movements to help increase range of motion while decreasing stiffness and pain.  This class will help improve strength and flexibility.

Boot Camp: Challenge every muscle group, improve your cardio strength, and push yourself to a new level of fitness.  A multi-level class, begin with the level best for you.

Core Blast: Help improve your midsection with strength, function, and balance exercises using the stability ball and BOSU.

Zumba: A fitness program inspired by Latin dance. Principles of fitness interval training and resistance training maximize caloric output, fat burning, and total body toning. It’s a way of mixing body sculpting movements with easy-to-follow dance steps,” says creator Beto Perez. “It’s fun and addictive.”

Cardio Challenge: Low intensity, long duration cardio using various equipment.

Hip Hop + Abs:  This class is a combination of both dance and fitness moves that is an all over cardio workout.  You will be so into the music you will not even realize you are working out!  Come Shake!

ROCKspinning:  This class is all about simulating an outdoor bike experience to music. The instructor will guide you through a ride that includes sprints, jumps, and seated/standing climbs. Please bring a towel and a water bottle.

Plyo Pump: An intense cardio workout filled with interval plyometric movements with core strength and abdominal focus.  Each class is different and can be modified to your fitness level.  All fitness levels welcome.

Butts-n-guts: This class uses fun dance moves to create a high energy cardio workout class. Come move your body!

Yoga: Different forms of yoga will be explored throughout this semester. This class will build physical strength as well as a strong bond between the mind and the body.

Yogafit: Yogafit is yoga that blends balance and flexibility techniques with some resistance training. Yogafit is for individuals at any fitness level.

Yoga Relaxtion: A class that uses different yoga and breathing techniques to help quiet the mind and relax the body.

Plyo Pump: An intense cardio workout filled with interval plyometric movements with core strength and abdominal focus.  Each class is different and can be modified to your fitness level.  All fitness levels welcome.

Aqua Dance: A fun, interactive class that elevates the heart rate by setting different movements to music. Appropriate for all ages and swimming abilities.

Tabata Fusion: Includes high intensity interval training, combining both cardio and resistance exercises. Interval training includes short bouts of high intensity exercises, followed by a rest period.

CORE STRENGTH- STRONG CORE=STRONG BODY. Challenge your entire core and build strength through a combination of body weight exercises, plyometics, and resistance training.
