Sexually Transmitted Infection (STI or STD) Testing for Men
The Student Health Services provides testing for sexually transmitted infections for a minimal fee in conjunction with the Pennsylvania Department of Health . Basic tests include chlamydia, gonorrhea, syphilis, and HIV testing. Tests are confidential.
You may call the Student Health Services (724-738-2052) for an appointment with a nurse practitioner who will perform the exam. Please plan on an appointment lasting 30-45 minutes. During that time, the nurse practitioner can help you determine the specific tests you would like to have done.
Your options and what you need to know:
- Chlamydia/Gonorrhea - You will need to provide a urine specimen at your appointment. Do not urinate for at least one hour prior to your exam. The specimen will be sent to a lab and results will be available within a week.
- Syphilis/HIV - A blood sample is taken at the time of your appointment and sent to a lab. Results are available within a week.
- Herpes/Genital Warts(HPV) - The nurse practitioners are also trained at examining the skin for signs of herpes and human papilloma virus lesions.
