SPOTLIGHT

Our Vision

The Office of Multicultural Development serves as the impetus for positive interactions with all cultures while providing diverse opportunities for our students with special interest to those of historically underrepresented groups.

Our Mission

Our mission is to provide holistic development of all students through our promotion of global awareness, cultural competence, and social responsibility.  We encourage the campus community to celebrate diversity and inclusion by promoting global, social, cultural, and educational programs and activities throughout the community.

Our Goals

  • Advocate for and support the holistic development, persistence, and achievement of historically underrepresented students
  • Encourage the development of academic, leadership, and cultural identity competencies among members of the Slippery Rock Community
  • Collaborate with campus and community constituents promoting inclusivity and respect to issues regarding pluralism, race, class, gender, and sexual orientation

"...A multicultural community of the future must become our lived reality, day by day, as we transform hope into action. The choice is ours."  Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
