What do you have in your room?
Each student room is provided with extra long twin beds, mattresses, desks and chairs, drawer space and wardrobes or closets.
All room furniture in the residence hall room is the responsibility of the student occupying the room. Room furniture assigned to the room may not be removed, stored or traded. Damage or removal of university furniture from your room is a violation of university policy and may result in disciplinary action and a possible criminal complaint.
Lobby and lounge furniture is provided for all students in the residence hall. This furniture may NOT be removed or relocated to student rooms. Removal of lobby or lounge furniture is considered theft of University property and will result in disciplinary action and a possible criminal complaint.
The limited amount of space in the residence hall does not allow for
storage of personal items or room furniture. Large appliances as large refrigerators (over 4 cubic feet), microwaves (over 800 watts/8 amps), cooking appliances (except those with automatic shutoff- i.e. hot pots/ coffee makers), ceiling fans, air conditioners and weight equipment are not permitted in the rooms! If you are uncertain about an item, please contact the Office of Residence Life.
Telephones
Telephones and individual student voice mail are provided in each student room. Only SRU installed phones will operate in student room phone jacks. You will receive information during the summer to arrange for low cost long distance service from your room phone. Students may also choose to use a cell phone or a long distance calling card from their room. To report an issue with your phone call 724-738-6800.
Television Cable
Television cable service is provided to individual student rooms by Armstrong Utilities, local cable provider. Studentsare responsible for bringing television cable to hook up their televisionto the cable jack. This service includes access to the follow channels, which can be found here. Air Conditioning
All Residential Suite and Traditional Halls have air conditioning units in students' rooms.
Microwaves/Refrigerators
Microwaves may be used in student rooms as long as they do not exceed 750 watts. Refrigerators may not exceed 4.2 cubic feet. Refrigerators and microwaves are provided in buildings A, B, D, E, F and Watson Hall.
Room Safe
Room Safes area available for rent during the academic year. Safe requests received by July 30 will allow time for the room safe to be installed in your room by check-in. Requests received after August 1 may take up to two weeks for installation.
Elevators
Elevator occupancy is limited to six people at a time. Individuals violating this policy and causing damage to an elevator may be required to pay for repair costs. Elevators are located in the Residential Suites and now also in the Traditional Halls.
Equipment
Games, athletic equipment, billiards, ping-pong, VCR's & DVD players, vacuum cleaners, and recreational equipment may be checked out at the front desk with your SRU ID. Equipment is purchased by that Residence Hall House Council and is intended for use within the building by residents only within the building.
Laptop Computers
Laptop computers are available at each residence hall Welcome Desk. A student ID is required for checkout.
