 Leadership and Empowerment

SPOTLIGHT

“Tell me and I forget.  Teach me and I remember, Involve me and I learn.”

The Women’s Center provides a variety of opportunities to develop leadership and encourage empowerment.

$tart$mart Workshop: The workshop teaches a young woman how to determine what employers are paying for the job she wants when she graduates and how to negotiate to be paid what she is worth doing that job. Click here for more information.

Educational workshops: Each semester we partner with other on campus experts to organize weekly workshops and outreach events on a variety of different topics (Women’s History, Breast Cancer Awareness, Stress Relief, Health Issues, etc).  For event details please visit our calendar of events.

Claire R. Schmeiler Leadership Institute for Professional Women: The purpose of the Schmieler Institute is to prepare non-faculty women for leadership roles at SRU and in the larger arena of higher education.  Information and training related to effective communication and interpersonal skills, fiscal management and other business processes, as well as overall development in navigating the socio-political waters of higher education administration will be provided in a series of ongoing sessions.

Connections: One of the main goals of the Women’s Center is to connect students to other resource areas capable of providing information, support and encouragement for women or on women’s issues.   Important offices doing this work include, but are not limited to:
