Mission Statement

As a part of the SRU Women’s Center the Bridge Project strives to:

Challenge society’s perceptions of gender roles and stereotypes that support a culture of violence.

Provide a frame work for the campus community to identify unhealthy social behaviors and address how to change those to healthy behaviors.

Develop appropriate response to crimes of violence on campus. Provide support services to those who have experienced violence.

Request a Program or Advocate

To request a program presentation or make suggestions about an event contact Karla Fonner, Bridge Project coordinator, at 724.738.2121 or karla.fonner@sru.edu. Programs are typically 50 minutes, interactive and designed around specific needs of the group, department or class.

To request an advocate on weekdays during business hours (8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.) call the Bridge Project Office at 724.738.2121 then ask to make an appointment with an advocate.

The Bridge Project partners with the local victim service agency, VOICe, (Victim Outreach Intervention Center) which provides a 24-hour hotline where trained staff assess individual needs. The number is 1.800.400.8551.

All communication with a VOICe advocate is free and confidential.
