Pūrākau International Poster Project

Martha Gault Art Gallery proudly presents Pūrākau International Poster Project with Myth & Legends Student Collaboration exhibition on view August 23 through September 23. The exhibition includes colorful artworks chosen by Professor Heather Hertel, from the Pūrākau International Poster Project started by Xavier Meade from Kirikiriroa Hamilton, New Zealand as a Wintec Research initiative. Artworks from New Zealand, Mexico, and Cuba are accompanied by the original written texts from the project in three languages.

The Myth & Legends Student Collaboration is modeled on the Pūrākau International Poster Project. Studentartist collaborators include Professor Theresa Antonellis’ Basic Printmaking class and Professor Pierre Bowins’ University of Maryland Eastern Shores, juried by printmaker and educator Mary Tremonte. Student writer collaborators include Dr. Mark O’Connor’s creative non-fiction class, with translations into French, Spanish and Japanese by students of Modern Languages Professors Malick Coly, Gisela Dieter and Yukako Ishimaru.

The Martha Gault Art Gallery is generously sponsored by the Art Department, The College of Liberal Arts and by the Student Government Association. The Martha Gault Art Gallery is in 102 Maltby Center, on 108 Maltby Ave, Slippery Rock University of Pennsylvania, and is all-accessible by parking and entry on College Drive near Rhoads Hall. Hours are Mondays through Thursdays, 11:00 am through 5:00 pm, except for university holidays and closures.
